PREPARING AN ELECTRONIC FILE
Documents, Font, Software, Color, and Images Are All Critical
Incorrectly prepared files can cost you time and money. The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation reports that 57 percent of customer electronic files have something wrong with them or are missing important elements. Before sending an electronic file, be sure to follow a few simple tips:
- Organize your electronic files in a document folder, fonts folder and images folder.
- Label each electronic file clearly, designating the program and software version used.
- Double-check color specifications with a color guide. If you are using PMS (Pantone Matching System) colors, make sure to include them in your folder.
- Images should be at the highest resolution for the quality of the finished product you expect (at least 300 dpi for printing and 72 dpi for web).
- Include a printed proof of the document.
